The Herpes virus is quite common. The types of herpes virus include Herpes Simplex Type 1 (HSV 1) and Herpes Simplex Type 2 (HSV 2). The two herpes viruses look the same when examined under the microscope. Although both herpes viruses can infect the mouth and genitals, HSV 1 generally causes cold sores and/or fever blisters in the mouth while HSV 2 usually causes sores in the genital area. The herpes virus can also affect other parts of the body such as the finger, called ?herpetic whitlow?.

The herpes virus is widespread all over the world. Approximately 80% of all human beings have acquired oral herpes infections by the age of ten. In America alone, herpes virus affects about eighty million people. At least one in five adults in the US is infected with genital herpes.

Herpes virus can be diagnosed through patient history, physical examination and laboratory tests such as viral culture, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), and Western blot.

The herpes virus is spread to other parts of the body (self-infection) or to another person through direct contact with the sores. Even without the visible sores, viral particles can spread before the sores develop (e.g. when there is tingling, itching, etc) or before the sores completely heal. Herpes is also spread through oral, vaginal and anal sex. It is important to avoid direct contact with the infected area, wash hands and genitals with soap and water and use physical barriers such as latex condoms and the like to prevent the spread of herpes virus.

The herpes virus has no cure to date. There are several home remedies, herbs and prescription drugs to help relieve the sores and control the infection. When sores are present, it is important to always keep the area clean and dry. The immune system should be boosted with vitamins and other supplements and stress must be kept at a minimum.

Herpes Testing

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

There are basically five ways to diagnose herpes in a patient. Herpes testing should not just include detection of the virus but its type and location as well. Knowing the type and location of the virus is important in assessing risks for transmission. Diagnostic measures in herpes testing include clinical examination, viral culture, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), non-type specific blood tests and type-specific blood tests.

Clinical examination of a patient includes history and physical examination. The doctor may ask about the patient?s sexual partners and practices. A timeline should be constructed as sores usually appear two to three weeks after the infection. Other important questions include presence of pain, itching, tingling, difficulty in urinating, et cetera. Physical examination includes checking for location of sores and swellings of the lymph nodes. Clinical examination is important in assessing the signs and symptoms of herpes but it does not confirm an infection by herpes as the symptoms may be seen in other diseases, the symptoms may present atypically or symptoms may not be present at all.

The second step in herpes testing is viral isolation and culture, which is the most valid test for herpes. The test is effective only when active viral shedding from open sores is present. Viral culture can identify the location of infection and make a distinction between HSV-1 and HSV-2.

PCR distinguishes between HSV-1 and HSV-2 as well. It is more sensitive than viral culture that produces many false negatives. Active viral shedding is also a prerequisite for this procedure.

Non-type specific blood tests in herpes testing include Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). It can identify the presence of herpes infection but cannot differentiate the two types. Other blood tests which may be requested for herpes testing include detection of IgM and IgG antibodies but these are not specific to herpes and these are only reliable after a certain period of time after the infection.

Type-specific blood tests for detection of herpes include Western blot, Immunoblot test or a more specific type of ELISA. These blood tests do not require active viral shedding from open sores.

Herpes Transmission

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

Transmission of the herpes simplex virus is via direct contact with the skin lesions of an affected individual or having sexual intercourse with someone who is infected. The virus is transmitted straight from the site of infection to the site of contact. Oral herpes, for example, can be passed on through kissing. Genital herpes can be contacted through vaginal and anal intercourse. Oral sex also results to herpes transmission.

The herpes simplex virus is easily spread when there is direct contact with the open sores or blisters (active herpes) but it may also propagate without any visible skin lesions (asymptomatic viral shedding). When a person infected with the virus starts experiencing prodromal symptoms such as itching or tingling, the virus is already present on the skin and it can already spread via contact with the affected part. Even without any apparent symptoms, herpes transmission may occur. People who are unaware that they have the virus may propagate the virus as viral shedding still occurs even without noticeable symptoms.

Herpes transmission includes self-infection when a person touches the affected area and spread the infection to other parts of the body he lays his hand on such as the eyes, fingers, chest, and so on.

A newborn baby may acquire the herpes simplex virus from his infected mother. It is important for a pregnant woman to make sure she does not have the virus. A doctor may request for a test to check for the presence of the virus as the woman goes into labor. A normal vaginal delivery is deemed safe when no virus particles are present in the birth canal and when there are no symptoms of the virus outbreak; otherwise a caesarian section is indicated to protect the baby from coming into contact with the virus in the vaginal area. Herpes transmission to babies and small children also occur when they are kissed by someone with cold sores as their juvenile immune system may not be able to fight off the virus.

Incredibly unusual ways of herpes transmission occur through contact with toilet seats, bath tubs or towels as the virus survives for a very short time away from the human host.

Feline Herpes

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

Feline upper respiratory disease complex affects the mouth, nasal passages, sinuses and upper airway tracts of cats and kittens. Causes of this condition include Chlamydia psittaci, reovirus, Bordatella bronchioseptica, Pasterurella and mycoplasmas but majority of cases are caused by calicivirus and feline herpes-1 virus, also called feline rhinotracheitis virus.

Feline herpes may be prevented through vaccination (e.g. injectable killed vaccine, modified live injectable vaccine, modified live vaccine administered through the nose). Vaccination may not totally prevent the disease however, as mild disease may still develop or the cat may be a carrier of the virus.

Feline herpes is transmitted through contact with the eye and/or nose discharges of an infected cat. This commonly occurs via cat-to-cat contact or through contact with dishes, bedding, toys, and the like contaminated with the discharge. Survival of the virus in the environment is less than twenty four hours and the virus is vulnerable to common household disinfectants.

Feline herpes is diagnosed through review of history (e.g. vaccination or contact with an infected cat) and symptoms. Viral isolation and culture are not requested often.

The incubation period of the feline herpes virus is two to seventeen days. The illness may last for two to four weeks, with the cat manifesting sneezing, nasal discharge, conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers, drooling, fever, depression and severe loss of appetite. The feline herpes virus causes abortion. It does not result to limping like the calicivirus does.

Management of feline herpes includes clearing the eyes and nasal passages (e.g. regular removal of discharge, nasal decongestants, etc) and application of ointments for oral ulcers and drops for eye lesions. The immune system of the cat should be strengthened through vitamins and antibiotics which control secondary bacterial infections, if there are any. Sufficient food and water intake is a must to maintain the cat's health.

The feline herpes virus may stay in the cat for a long time. Carriers of rhinotracheitis usually shed the virus when they are stressed.

How to Get Fast Herpes Relief

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

A herpes outbreak can be awful and incredibly uncomfortable, but if you want fast herpes relief, you will need to take precautionary measures. The best treatment is actually prevention, so you need to be aware of herpes outbreak symptoms. Fast herpes relief is possible, if you start treating at the very first signs of an outbreak. This technique is recommended by most doctors.

You should always have a supply of herpes meds on hand so you can start taking them when the first symptoms appear. If you notice any of the regular signs that you are about to have an outbreak, start taking your herpes medications immediately, according to the prescription instructions. You will quickly learn what to watch out for and will be able to prevent the pain and embarrassment of a herpes outbreak before it begins.

For fast herpes relief, you don?t have to be on prescription medications. These can certainly help control the discomfort of an outbreak, but they are not the only way to find relief. In fact, there are several over the counter herpes treatments that you might like to try, as well as natural herpes remedies.

No over the counter remedy will work for everyone. You will need to experiment with which topical ointment works best for you and your body. Once you find one that is good, you will want to keep it handy so you don?t have to suffer any more than necessary. Some of the more popular topical herpes ointments include Herp-eeze, H-balm, and Choraphor. Each of these treatments contains natural ingredients designed to give you fast herpes relief, easing pain and discomfort, although they don?t promise to banish the outbreak completely.

You may also look for a topical anesthetic which will numb the area and ease the pain caused by a herpes outbreak. This is particularly useful in early episodes which tend to be more painful. Also, when the blisters are first forming, you will want to use this type of herpes pain relief, since applying it to open wounds is not a good idea.

Fast herpes relief can be had, but it really depends on the person. You might find that one remedy works for you, while other sufferers will use a completely different treatment that does nothing for your particular case. Remember that experimentation is the key to finding fast herpes relief. If you don?t try new things, you will never find a way to control it!

A Simple Overview To Genital Herpes And How To Talk To Your Children About It

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

Genital herpes is one of the most commonly occurring Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the world and it is caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus.

There are two variations of the virus: type 1 also referred to as HSV-1 and type 2 commonly known as HSV-2. Type 1 which is the reason behind the cold sores you might see people sporting on their lips and type 2 which is most commonly responsible for genital herpes.

Genital herpes has no preference when it comes to gender, age or social status. It affects men and women, teenagers and adults, single and married people.

A person can only get infected during sexual contact with someone who is already infected. The most common way to transmit the HSV virus is thru sexual intercourse. Sexual intercourse can be vaginal, anal or oral sex. Most people have none to very minimal signs or symptoms from type 1 or type 2 infections. When signs do occur, they tend to appear as small blisters in the pubic and anal region of the person infected. These blisters break leaving sores that may take several weeks to heal. In most cases, the first outbreak is the most severe with signs and symptoms that include flu-like symptoms, fever and swollen glands. Outbreaks tend to happen less often and less severe over time.

When a person has an outbreak, which means that the blisters are present, they are more likely to transmit the disease. That doesn?t mean that someone who is infected with genital herpes and doesn?t have blisters is safe. They?re not. Safe sex practices do need to be followed regardless of the presence of blisters.

The only accurate way to be diagnosed with genital herpes is by getting a blood test though most diagnosis are visual when sores are present. When you are diagnosed with genital herpes you may view that as the end of your sexual life. It?s not. Many people live with this condition and enjoy active intimate lives. There are multiple sites dedicated to introduce singles with herpes for dating.

Some surprising facts about genital herpes that many people aren?t aware of include:

* Approximately 1 million people are infected with genital herpes each year.
* In the United States it?s estimated that 1 in 5 people are infected with genital herpes.
* Type-2 infections are more common in women than in men.
* Up to 90% of people who are infected with genital herpes aren?t aware of it.

In order to manage this condition you do need to be diagnosed by a doctor. That?s the first step towards treatment. Although there isn?t an available cure for genital herpes it can be managed by oral medication known as suppressive therapy.

If you are a parent, you shouldn't wait to start talking to your children about genital herpes and do not expect their school to educate them about STDs. It is best to start educating your children when they are in their pre-teen or early teen years.

If your partner or child confides in you that he or she may have genital herpes or you suspect that you may be infected, plan a visit to your physician as soon as possible.

How to Deal with Herpes Rejection

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

He or She Just Aint That Into You.

If you have herpes and have the integrity to tell someone about it before you get sexually involved and they reject you because of it, it is one of the most devastating forms of rejection imaginable. Just as bad as being rejected because of your race, or physical disability or anything else not under your control, and just as ignorant and intolerable.

When the people I treat tell me their rejection stories I feel for them. Some are so shaken by it that they stop dating for years or ghettoize themselves to only dating others with herpes.

What I say to them is that "He or She was Just not that into You". No one who really wants a person, and I do mean want the person, the whole person and the package that comes with them, will reject them just because they have herpes. Who would want that kind of superficial love anyways?

Herpes is a great litmus test to let you know who really cares about you and desires you.

It reasonable for someone to want the risks and consequences explained to them. It's reasonable for someone not to be enthusiastic about you having herpes- who would be? But anyone who really loved or or though you were sexy before finding out about your herpes will still think so afterwards.

When you further explain to them that you are managing your herpes with herbal medicine or drug therapy and that you practice safer sex with a condom and an anti-viral gel there should be no reason for them not to want to sex you up right then and there.

What it all comes to is fear. Do not be afraid of being rejected because of having herpes.

Dear member of the Herpes Nation: Hold you head up high. Remember who you are. How special you are. How deserving you are of love and all it's fruits. Don't let anyone diss you or make you feel less than. Anyone who wants you must accept the whole package of your life. Don't settle for anything less than that.

If you've been rejected or made to feel less than. Remember that although you cannot control what happens to you in this life you can control how you choose to react to whatever happens. You are still a prize and whoever is fortunate enough to be in your life is blessed.
