Herpes Simplex virus comes from the Herpes Virus Family, called Herpesviridae of which two basic strains, notably HSV-1 & HSV-2 causes the infection. These are also known as Human Herpes Virus-1 and Human Herpes Virus ? 2 (HHV-1 & HHV-2). The infections are characterized by painful blisters filled with translucent fluids that appear on the skin or mucous membranes like the mouth or lips or on the genitals. There is nothing simple either about the HSV-1 or HSV-2 excepting that they prefer to become lifelong partners of the host on whose nerve cells they are permanently engrossed. From the outside, these blisters resemble those seen in chickenpox, the handiwork of another subfamily, VZV known as Herpes Virus-3 or HHV-3.

The infection may start with kissing (direct contact with lips) or through sexual intercourse (genital contact) when HSV sores are present or immediately before they appear, i.e. the Shedding stage. However, after the initial or primary stage of the infection, the virus goes into hibernation, remaining dormant within the cell bodies of nerves, innervating the area of original outbreak. After sometime the reactivation starts, when the virus is transported outwardly through the cell?s axon to the skin. And that?s when the blisters are seen. Though the infection is not fatal to adults, but yet if they are present during childbirth may lead to severe complications and even the sad death of the infant.

The primary symptoms of herpes simplex is burning, tingling or itching sensations near the edges of the lips or nose. This is known as the Prodromal stage. Thereafter, small, reddened spots develop in the irritated areas. And then comes the chickenpox-like blisters that are filled with fluid that often rupture, releasing a sticky serum-like fluid that rapidly crusts.

The strapping tendency of the virus to remain dormant within the nerve cells for indefinite periods gives it the characteristics of chronic nature. To begin with, none of the known antibiotics have any effect on viruses that come and go on their own and secondly, it becomes extremely difficult to dislodge them from the nerve cells where they are permanently lodged. However, the initial outbreaks after the exposure to HSV are more severe, compared to later episodes, since by then the body gets a chance to produce its own antibodies. Beware! The first outbreak often carries the risk of developing meningitis.

When an HSV infection appears on the lips in the form of a blister or sore, it is commonly called a ?cold sore? or ?fever blister?. However, it should never be mixed up with ?canker sore? because canker sores are not caused by the HSV virus.

Yes, it is. Especially when the carrier is producing and/or releasing, i.e. ?shedding? during an outbreak. Besides, like contact dermatisis, the disease can spread by physical contact during outbreaks. The normal human tendency of touching a cold sore and repeating the procedure on other spots on the face or neck may trigger further outbreaks. Touching an eye after the finger is wet with the fluid coming out of an open sore is extremely dangerous as it may affect the cornea and may cause blindness.

How To Get Rid Of Genital Herpes

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

Do you know that at least 45 million people of all ages have the herpes virus. That is equal to one out of five adults. Is it possible to completely cure herpes? Unfortunately no, at least not yet.

Once you have contracted the virus it never leaves your body. The herpes virus lives silently in the nerve endings at the base of the brain and in the spinal cord. This is a real nasty virus.

Is there any proven treatment to control herpes naturally? Fortunately yes, there is good news.

You don't need to take prescription drugs which are very expensive and have a host of side effects. Alternatively, there are many options to bring this persistent and painful condition under control. It would take some work from you to change your life style. These proven methods work on oral, facial and genital herpes, shingles and mouth ulcers.

Let me share my story with you.

Many years ago I was foolish enough to have unprotected intercourse. Neither of us had any protection, but my girlfriend ushered me that she was free of any diseases. I realise now how naive I was. Maybe she really didn't know because of the early stage of infection. But that was no consolation to me since I contracted genital herpes from her. It's terrible and and worst of all it's irreversible.

I felt like my future was going down the drain. I was going through hell and I felt ashamed to tell my best friend and even to go to the doctor. I kept my shame to myself hoping it will go away on its own. I got to a point where I could hardly walk because of the pain, itching and burning. I knew I had to get some help and that's when I learned what I actually contracted.

The medication that was prescribed helped me some, but the side effects were so horrible. While I was taking it, I felt sick, dizzy, nauseated and felt like fainting. After this I tried a different medication, but this one made me hallucinate. My life became a living nightmare. It was bad enough to live with genital herpes and mental frustration so the last thing I needed was a drug that causes hallucinations.

After a while my best friend noticed that I was not the same. He wanted to help and was curious to know what was bothering me. I finally told him my bad experience. He told me that maybe his aunt would be able to help me because she was suffering from genital herpes for a long time. She was keeping the virus under control with proven natural remedies.

I learned from her which foods to eat that discourage outbreaks. She explained to me that to be able to keep the virus at bay I would have to make some major changes in my lifestyle. She showed me what she uses and how to get rid of genital herpes or at least control it.

The combination of the following is what works for me and best of all without side affects.

1. I pay close attention to my hygiene, more than I ever did before. Now don't get me wrong; I was not a dirty person but there are different ways of being clean.

2. I make sure that my underwear are only cotton. I use organic based laundry detergent just for my underwear and I only sun dry them.

3. I don't wear heavy or tight pants or jeans and I change them often.

4. I use an herbal based, non-toxic and odorless product from Australia called "Charaphor." This is a topically applied product.

5. I stopped using sugar completely because sugar acts as a fertiliser for the herpes virus and it's also hard on the kidneys. Instead of sugar, I use unfiltered, organic raw honey in moderation. Honey is known for its antiseptic qualities.

6. To boost my immune system I use a "non-synthetic" blend of vitamins and minerals. I also take amino acids and a variety of herbal teas.

7. Avoid stress as much as possible. I noticed that when I am stressed out the virus starts to resurface. Stress breakes down the immune system. To combat stress, I set aside 30 minutes a day to listen to some meditative music or sounds of nature.

During my years of research of the herpes virus I have learned of many more helpful ways of keeping the virus at bay. To avoid the side effects and the dangers of prescription drugs, I only searched for natural treatments.

The herpes virus must not be taken lightly and it is crucial to keep your immune system in top condition at all time. I know that this may mean a huge change in your lifestyle, it did for me, but this is much easier than having to suffer. Until someone discovers a complete cure, which I believe will happen soon, I and many others feel that this is the best and proven method of treating herpes.

Herpes Misinformation: Transferring Cold Sores During Oral Sex

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

Question: If I suffers from cold sores (herpes simplex 1) but not from genital herpes (herpes simplex 2), is it possible for me to pass on the virus to my partner during oral sex; even if I am cold-sore free at the time?

Answer: Unfortunately, yes, even though the chances are slim, both Herpes Simplex Type 1 (cold sores) and Herpes Simplex Type 2 (genital herpes), can infect either the mouth or genitals.

Likewise, both cold sores and genital herpes can be transferred from one partner to another even if the infected partner is asymptomatic at the time.

Since there are few faster ways to ruin a relationship than when one partner give the other herpes, lets clear-up some more herpes misinformation that could save you from giving or receiving the gift that keeps on giving.

Even though a big ole cold sore on someone's lip or mouth is a good indication that they do have herpes simplex type 1, you can't tell if someone has genital herpes just by the way they look, live or act. If someone suffers from cold sores it doesn't mean they are more or less likely to also suffer from genital herpes, likewise if someone does not suffer from cold sores that doesn't mean they don't have genital herpes.

Eighty million Americans have herpes ? that's at least one in six adults, including that cute date who forgot to bring condoms.

Intercourse is not the only way herpes is spread. Herpes is spread from skin to skin contact. That means you can get herpes (cold sores or genital) from kissing, performing or receiving oral sex, or touch an infected area with any part of your body

Someone can have herpes and not even know it. Herpes symptoms usually develop within 2 to 20 days after contact with the virus, however it could take longer and in some cases (especially women) the newly infected person may remain asymptomatic but still be able to pass on the virus to others.

Herpes can be spread between outbreaks, even when no signs or symptoms are present. It can also be spread by asymptomatic people who don't even know they are infected.

You can get herpes in your eyes, on your fingers and on other parts of the body by touching an outbreak. Soap and water will kill the virus on the surface of your skin, however, once you are infected, soap and water will not get rid off cold sores or genital herpes outbreaks.

Aside from abstinence, there is no sure fire way to protect yourself from contracting herpes during intimacy with an infected partner. Next to abstinence, using latex condoms is the most recommended safeguard against contracting herpes, but it is far from 100% effective.

If you suspect you might have some form of the herpes virus or if you have a partner that has herpes, please see your local health care provider for a diagnosis and medical advise.
