Genital Herpes - Diagnosis, Cure, and Precautions

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by HSV (herpes simplex viruses). HSV type 2 (HSV-1) is the usual cause of genital herpes. Although, in some cases HSV type 1 (HSV-2) is also found responsible for this disease. Usually HSV-2 is responsible for oral herpes (herpes sores on the lips and in the mouth).

Many people have heard about the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). But very few people know what causes it. There are several kinds of herpes strains. We will talk about the Genital herpes in this article.

Herpes Simplex Virus 2 (HSV2) is also known as genital herpes because it affects the genital area. Common areas of infection are the cervix, labia, vagina, inner thighs, and anus of female and the shaft of the penis, scrotum, inner thighs and anus for men. As per the recent research approximately 86 million people worldwide are affected by this disease. The main cause of transmission of genital herpes is through sexual contact.

Getting Diagnosed

Think you have genital herpes? See your doctor for testing and treatment right away. Doctors can diagnose genital herpes by looking at visible sores or by taking a sample from the sore for testing in a lab. Blood tests can also be done to detect HSV-1 or HSV-2.Follow your doctor's advice and finish all the medicine that you are given. It is very important to finish all the medicine even if the symptoms go away.

If you are not affected with genital herpes then abstinence from sex is the surest way to avoid getting genital herpes. The next way is to limit sex to one uninfected partner who only has sex with you. If you have a partner with genital herpes, do not have sex - even with a condom - when he or she is affected with an outbreak.

Cure and Precautions

Unfortunately there is no cure for this disease; the virus will always be in the infected body. Certain drugs such as acyclovir, valacyclovir, and famciclovir can decrease the outbreaks, or stop them from happening. Your doctor can give you proper advice/medicine to cure the outbreaks and stop them from affecting you in future.

Always follow the following steps to stop frequent outcomes of the virus and to stop the transmission to another person.

1. Do not touch the sores with hands or with a cloth, in severe conditions one can use cotton, which can be thrown after use.

2. Wash hands after contact.

3. Clean the infected area and keep it dry.

4. Avoid sexual contact until the herpes are healed.

5. Avoid having any sexual activity while you have any symptoms of an outbreak. Be sure to tell your sexual partners, so they can also be tested. Genital herpes is a life long virus, which cannot be cured, get advice from your doctor in order to prevent the outbreak to happen and to prevent spreading of disease to any other person.

During an outbreak, there are different ways to relieve pain.

- Take warm bath. After bathing, carefully dry affected areas gently with cotton.

- Wear loose cotton clothes.

- Keep the area dry.

- Hold ice packs to the sores a few minutes, several times.

- Take aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen or doctors prescribed medicine to relieve pain and fever.

It is very important for a pregnant woman that the outbreak of the herpes should be treated before giving birth. If the mother is affected by genital herpes while she is pregnant, she is more likely to pass the virus to her baby. If the outbreak is not the first one, the baby's risk of getting the virus is very low. Babies born with herpes may be premature or may die, or they may have brain damage, severe rashes, or eye problems. Doctors may do a C-section to deliver a baby if the mother has herpes lesions near the birth canal to help prevent passing the virus. Also, acyclovir can help babies born with herpes if they are treated right away. It is not yet known if all genital herpes drugs are safe for pregnant women to take. Herpes is spread through contact with sores and can be dangerous to a newborn while breast-feeding if the sores are on sores on your nipple or areola. Breast-feeding should be stopped until the sores are healed.

Genital Herpes Virus Transmission

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

?Familiarity breeds contempt?. That?s the way the age-old saying goes. When it comes to the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, it?s no exception. The only difference is that, it now breeds, and transmits, something as contemptible as a disease inducing virus.

What the paragraph above tries to establish is clear enough. If someone asks about the primary way that the Genital Herpes virus is transmitted, the answer would be through plain carelessness while having sex.

Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), the agent behind Genital Herpes, is transmitted from a person to another by skin contact, especially of the intimate kind. Condoms are a lifesaver in such cases, especially LATEX condoms (animal skin condoms are not recommended). Abstinence is the best-recommended practice under such circumstances. However, should a person infected with the Genital Herpes virus be ever considered as a partner in a lovemaking session, it is critical for all the other players to adopt safe sex measures such as using condoms, dental dams (if one plans to indulge in oral sex) or avoiding contact with any visible sores or blisters.

Actually, Genital Herpes infection is an alarmingly common phenomenon the world over. In the US alone, close to 50 million people are infected with it! So there is reason to worry for sure ? particularly when the number of cases does not seem to be going down.

Even though the virus cannot be ?cured? as such, there is no dearth of excellent treatment options to relieve the symptoms. Medication can do wonders to reduce the pain and discomfort associated with an outbreak, and can also shorten the time required to heal completely. In most cases, the virus manifests virtually no symptoms, or only very mild ones. However, for the unfortunate few with pronounced symptoms, it is not unnatural to feel embarrassed.

Transmission of the Genital Herpes Virus ? How To Know

It could take anywhere between 2 days to 2 weeks for the symptoms to appear after the transmission of the Genital Herpes virus. For both the sexes, the symptoms include:

- Itchiness of and around the genitals.
- Small blisters in the vagina, the vulva, the penis, the testicles, on or around the anus, and even on the thighs or buttocks.
- Mild lumps in the groin area.
- The initial episode is sometimes accompanied by fever and headaches.
- Rupturing of blisters leading to painful sores. These sores usually dry up, leaving scabbing that eventually fall off.
- Discomfort and pain during urination.
- The onset of an active outbreak is often preceded by a slight tingling or burning sensation.

There is a greater risk involved in oral sex with someone who is infected with Genital Herpes. This can cause sores inside the mouth or on the lips, and can lead to great deal of discomfort. It is also important to remember that although Genital Herpes manifests itself primarily on or around the mouth or genitals, it can sometimes even cause outbreaks elsewhere in the body as well.

Herpes Support Groups

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

There are herpes support group's found in certain states in America. There are some herpes support groups in other countries as well. Herpes support groups are very good sources of information and assistance to infected patients. These support groups help a member feel he is not alone in his battle with the disease.

Herpes support groups are helpful both to those who have just been diagnosed with the disease and to long-term herpes patients. Herpes support groups provide a safe and comfortable environment where participants can share their personal experiences about the symptoms and treatment of their oral and/or genital herpes. They get to discuss the severity and duration of their outbreaks, what they do to relieve them of the pain and discomfort and the negative side effects of their therapy. They also get to talk about their fears and how they feel about their condition freely without fear of being judged and condemned. Moreover, they get to contribute advice to fellow members on how to deal with the disease. A really important factor in these herpes support groups is confidentiality as people with herpes are afraid of the social stigma because many in the community look down, judge and even alienate them.

Herpes support groups also include conferring with physicians so they get accurate information about the symptoms, treatment and prognosis of herpes simplex. The doctor's may convene lectures and open forums where members can find answers to their queries.

Some herpes support groups meet personally on a regular basis while some herpes support groups just confer online. The group?s website usually contains medical literature on the virus or have updates on new medications. Chat forums and message boards are also easily accessed. Members of the herpes support group can join the discussion with the other members and/or doctors.

Herbs for Herpes

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

For centuries, herbs - their parts, extracts and oils - have been used to treat a vast array of conditions. The active ingredient in most herbs is an alkaloid. When using herbs, it is best to get them from accredited sources. It is also important to follow the correct dosage and formulation of the herbs as excesses may lead to adverse effects. In addition, it is essential to adhere to the recommended procedure as some of these herbs may be ingested or may just be applied externally.

There are a lot of herbs particularly used to control the infection and treat the symptoms of herpes. Some of the herbs are most helpful during the prodromal phase, some are best for the visible open sores or blisters and some boost the immune system. Many of these herbs have multiple effects.

More popular herbs containing anti-viral properties against Herpes simplex include olive leaf extract, lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), hyssop, Prunella vulgaris, Cactus opuntia streptacantha, Solanum nigrum and red marine algae (also called Super Carotene or Dunaliella salina). Other herbs that are anti-viral in general and have other properties as well include lavender (also fights staphylococcus and streptococcus), myrrh (effective in curing ulcers), sage (a moderately strong antiseptic) and chapparal (also attacks retroviruses). Herbal blends mostly used for prodromal symptoms of herpes include burdock (cleans liver and blood, lessens fever and glandular swellings), feverfew (for fever, inflammation and pain), gentian (cleans liver and blood, relieves fever), Gotu Kola (diminishes tingling sensations), horsetail (alleviates itching and painful urination) and hyssop (reduces inflammation). In addition, herbal oils to be applied externally are also used to relieve prodromal symptoms, which include lavender (for itching and swelling) and St. John's Wort (for inflamed glands). Cold sores are relieved by lavender oil, myrrh, olive leaf extract and lemon balm. To strengthen the immune system, herbs such as golden seal, red clover, sage, red marine algae (containing sulfated polysaccharides) and sarsaparilla may be used.

Herpes Prescriptions

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

Herpes prescriptions include anti-viral medications. These anti-viral drugs, usually in tablet forms, are effective and specific treatments for herpes simplex infection. These stop the virus from replicating inside the body, lessening the duration of a herpes outbreak, accelerating healing and reducing the number of more outbreaks in the future. The anti-virals are helpful only when they are taken; once stopped, they cannot prevent recurrence of potential outbreaks.

Herpes prescriptions are used to treat outbreaks as they occur (episodic treatment) or to prevent or delay future outbreaks (suppressive treatment). With the former regimen, the main goals are to relieve the symptoms and to reduce the time of the flare-up. This treatment option is considered for patients who have infrequent outbursts and more tolerable symptoms. The latter course of therapy is considered for more recurrent and severe outbreaks. The oral anti-viral should be taken daily for several months or years to suppress the virus and prevent the symptoms from coming back.

Famciclovir is usually taken thrice a day for episodic treatment and twice a day for recurrent symptoms. It reduces the duration of the outbreak and increases the time between outbreaks. Common reported side effects include headache, nausea, dizziness and diarrhea. Precautionary measures are indicated for people with hypersensitivity to Penciclovir cream, those with impaired renal function, concurrently using Probenecid and who are pregnant.

Valacyclovir is taken twice daily for episodic treatment. In some countries, it can be used as suppressive treatment as well. It speeds up healing of the sores, reduces severity and duration of pain and decreases the period of viral shedding. When taken at the beginning of an outbreak (e.g. itching, tingling, etc), development of blisters may be thwarted. Common side effects include headache, nausea and abdominal discomfort.

Acyclovir has similar effects to Valacyclovir. It should be ingested five times daily for episodic treatment. It can also be part of suppressive treatment. Usual side effects are nausea and diarrhea.

Reduce the Frequency of Herpes Outbreaks

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

Herpes is an incurable, recurring disease that is quite unpredictable. After your first outbreak, you may end up having years of no symptoms, or you might break out again in a week. Although no cure has been found, there are some techniques that make it possible to reduce the frequency of herpes outbreaks, making life easier for its victims.

Anyone who has been infected with this virus knows that the frequency of herpes outbreaks can control your life. The pain and discomfort caused by an active infection really does affect everything you do for the duration. So, if there is a way to reduce the frequency, why not try it?

The truth is that it takes a combination of factors to lower the frequency of herpes outbreaks. You will need to adjust your lifestyle according to the number of infections you experience. For people with a low immune system, you might experience very frequent outbreaks (every 2-6 weeks). Boosting your immune system is the first step in herpes relief.

To boost your immune system, you will need to take a look at your diet. Do you drink many soft drinks? Even one a day can drastically inhibit your immune system due to the amount of sugar in each bottle. In fact, excessive sugar intake can be a major factor in the frequency of herpes outbreaks, so you will want to reduce it. Avoid eating too many sugary desserts or candies and stay away from sodas!

Eating plenty of fresh food, such as fruits and vegetables, particularly those high in Vitamin C and B can also help you control the herpes. Staying away from unhealthy junk food such as chips and fries is a good idea if you want to stay in good shape. You can opt for baked potato chips instead of fried if you like, the idea is to give your body the nutrients it needs to fight off the virus and to stay healthy.

If you find that you just aren?t able to eat well all the time, consider taking a vitamin supplement. A one-a-day vitamin pill is ideal and you can get ones that dissolve in water for those who prefer not to swallow pills on a daily basis. Taking extra vitamin C, whether through pill form or by eating plenty of citrus fruit is another excellent way to raise your health level and lower the frequency of herpes outbreaks.

Taking a herbal supplement such as St. John?s wort may also help boost your immune system and drop the frequency of herpes outbreaks that you experience. Ginkgo balboa and ginseng are also touted as immunity helpers and may also improve brain function, two birds with one stone!

Reducing the frequency of herpes outbreaks may take a while. You need to get your body into shape and healthy. By taking care with what you eat and by making sure you are getting enough vitamins, you will shortly be noticing longer and longer periods between outbreaks.

5 Natural Remedies for Herpes

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

Many sufferers are looking to natural remedies for herpes, preferring the herbs and home treatments over pricey prescription meds. In fact, natural remedies for herpes are popping up all over the place! Anyone looking for alternative herpes treatments really should consider natural methods first.

Natural remedies for herpes are widely varied and not all of them will work for you. Everyone is different and experiences outbreaks in a different manner, so you will need to experiment with the various methods of providing relief to find which works best for you. Even if you find one right away, it is a good idea to have a backup remedy, so test several methods. Here are five to get you started.

1. Silica gel is one of the more popular natural remedies for herpes. It soothes and eases the affected area and is far more effective if stored in the fridge. This allows for more cooling relief. Look for organic silica gel for the best results.

2. Tea tree oil is well-known for its antiseptic properties and is a very useful anti-viral treatment, as well. It is highly favored as a natural remedy for herpes as well as a variety of other problems. Simply apply the oil to the affected area a couple of times a day. It will help dry out the sores and heal them faster and may even prevent outbreaks if used early enough.

3. St. John?s wort is not only good for depression (a common side-effect of herpes) but it can also be used to treat the actual infection! Apply the chilled, used tea bag to the sores for quick relief. You can also bathe the affected area with the cool tea for faster healing. Drinking the herb in tea form or taking it in capsules may also help prevent outbreaks as well as depression, but this has not yet been proven.

4. Keeping the genital area dry is a very simple natural remedy for herpes in this area. This will help the sores heal faster. You can dust the area with cornstarch or baby powder to help dry it out. Wash and dry the area first and then sprinkle it with one of the mentioned powders. Although they won?t cure the outbreak, the very act of keeping the area dry will promote a shorter outbreak period.

5. Applying black tea bags (such as Earl Grey) is one of many natural remedies for herpes. Simply chill used tea bags in the fridge for an hour or two and apply as needed to the outbreak area. The tea bags don?t have to be chilled, but this provides added relief.

Natural remedies for herpes are many and you will no doubt encounter more as you continue to research this disease. However, the ones given above are perhaps the most effective and should be the ones you start with.

At Home Treatment for Herpes

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

There are a variety of ways that you can eliminate or at least reduce the pain and suffering caused by herpes, right in your own home, without prescription drugs. Home treatment for herpes is best used after the first year of infection, since this is when you will experience the most pain, but these treatments can really be used anytime and in combination with other methods.

Home treatment of herpes usually involves things that you already have kicking around the house. Ordinary cooking ingredients can be used to help stop herpes outbreaks and also to keep the pain and discomfort under control. The best part is that these remedies don?t cost much at all, certainly not the high prices of prescription herpes drugs.

To help stop a herpes outbreak from occurring, you can use a fresh slice of lemon. This is only recommended at the first onset of symptoms, not after the sores have formed, since the acid in the lemon will cause more pain. Instead, use it before the blisters appear, to help control and reduce the herpes outbreak and possibly even prevent it completely.

If you are in a lot of pain during an outbreak, another home treatment for herpes is yogurt. You may have heard of using yogurt to treat yeast infection . . . well, it also provides soothing relief for herpes! Take icy cold plain yogurt and smooth it on the infected area for instant herpes relief. This will be a bit messy, obviously, but the cooling relief is well worth it. You will need to change the dressing often. Consider adding a little honey to the yogurt as well, since this has antiseptic properties and can help heal the sores faster.

Ice works well to numb the area as well. Keep a re-freezable ice pack handy in your freezer, two if you can. Then apply the ice pack to the affected area for a great home treatment for herpes pain. This will chill the outbreak area fast and ease the pain.

Home treatment of herpes is preferred by many sufferers because it is considerably cheaper than the prescription herpes meds and it is also faster. You can find instant relief in the middle of the night when no store is open and you are out of topical cream! For this reason, home treatment of herpes has become very popular in recent years, as outbreaks become more and more frequent.

Get Herpes Pain Relief

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

Herpes outbreaks can cause a lot of pain, sometimes described as razor blades slicing the genital area. Not a pleasant thought, but herpes pain relief can be found. There are a variety of medications and topical applications on the market to provide herpes pain relief, but you can also go natural with some useful home remedies.

If you decide to go with an over the counter treatment for herpes pain relief, you will find a wide range of products. Some are simply local anesthetics that dull the nerve endings and numb the area for a short time. These will need to be reapplied frequently and can get a bit messy.

Icing the affected area can be a good way to get natural herpes pain relief. The coolness will numb the area and can provide a soothing relief. Using a chilled compress of any kind will provide similar herpes pain relief. However, the numbness is only temporary and you will find it necessary to repeat the treatment frequently in order for it to be properly effective.

Taking a warm bath or using a blow dryer set to low can be a good way to ease the pain as well. Your genital area should remain dry to promote faster healing of the blisters and this can be helped along by using the blow dryer or by dusting the area with cornstarch. You may also sprinkle cornstarch in your underwear to ensure dryness.

Another good tip is to use loose clothing, particularly underwear. Tight clothes can irritate the sores and cause an outbreak to be even worse. Cotton clothing is best, as it allows the genital area to breathe and stay dry. Polyester and other synthetic fabrics should be avoided during an outbreak as they tend to capture heat and moisture and can undo any herpes pain relief that you had already sought out.

Regular pain killers can also provide herpes pain relief. Try Tylenol, acetaminophen or even ibuprofen to ease the pain. Using pain killers in combination with a topical treatment is often the best way to treat the discomfort. Experiment to find which combination works best for you.

Herpes pain relief can be elusive at times. It?s all a matter of experimentation and finding out what remedies work for you and your outbreaks. Some people find that they experience such mild outbreaks, all they need is an aspirin, but for others, a topical treatment combined with a pain killer is the only way to cope.

How to Recognize the Symptoms of a Herpes Infection

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

Many people infected with herpes never even realize it. They don?t recognize the symptoms of a herpes infection, or they may not even experience any symptoms at all. However, for those who do have painful outbreaks, it is rapidly apparent that something is wrong. This article explores the most common symptoms of a herpes infection.

You may not realize that you have herpes until the first outbreak occurs. This could be immediately after infection or it could be months later. This depends greatly on your immune system. The first herpes outbreak is always the worst. After the first one, you may be symptom-free for years, or you may experience outbreak after outbreak, every few weeks. Most people are somewhere in between, but nearly all report that herpes infections do slow down as the years pass.

Genital sores are the most obvious of the symptoms of a herpes infection. They begin as small blisters in the genital area, although they may spread to thighs and buttocks. These multiply rapidly for a day or two and then pop, leaving open sores. These sores weep a liquid which carries the herpes virus and is highly contagious. Contact should be avoided when the open lesions are apparent.

It can take up to four weeks for the first round of blisters to heal. Subsequent outbreaks should clear up faster, but this is not always the case, particularly in anyone with a compromised immune system.

Other common symptoms of a herpes infection include swollen lymph nodes, usually in the genital area. These can be checked by feeling the join between the thighs and the pelvis. If you feel swollen bumps there, those are your lymph nodes fighting the infection. Flu-like symptoms may accompany a herpes outbreak and can be included in the list of symptoms of a herpes infection.

During the first herpes outbreak, you may run a fever and experience pain in the genital area. Women may have trouble urinating or painful urination and pelvic pain. The symptoms vary between genders and may also vary from outbreak to outbreak, generally becoming less and less intense.

The symptoms of a herpes infection may differ slightly from person to person, but it should be evident by the lesions or ulcers in the genital area that it is indeed herpes. If you know what the symptoms of a herpes infection are, you will be able to treat it early on and possibly avoid a painful outbreak.

Genital Herpes- The Types Of Common Tests

The experienced eyes of the doctor commonly diagnose genital herpes. Most of the doctors recognize the disease with clinical examination. To confirm the presence different tests are done. Many times the test reports indicate absence of herpes. They need to be repeated after some days. All the testing facility may not be available everywhere. You need to discuss with your doctor about the reliability of the test and identification of HSV1 or HSV2. The test reports may be misleading if sample is withdrawn from old crusted sores. The common tests that are done to find out the presence of herpes are as below.

Viral Culture-

The common test to confirm the presence of herpes is culture test. In culture test, a small sample of fluid or cells is taken from the suspected sore with a swab. This sample is sent for testing. Many times, the results may be negative but you may be having genital herpes. This test is therefore repeated after some time. The test reports of rapid viral test can take 2 to 3 days while that of standard culture may take up to two weeks.

Herpes virus antigen detection test- In this test, cells that are taken from the sore are viewed under a microscope,. The presence of herpes antigens confirms the presence of herpes infection. The results o9f this tests are reported in a day.

PCR- this test is done on cells or sores. In this test the DNA of herpes virus is detected. This test can identify between the two types of Viruses- HSV1 and HSV2. PCR results are reported within three days.

Blood test-

In blood test, blood is drawn either by a needle or with a pinprick. This blood is tested for the presence of herpes virus. Some tests can identify between HSV1 and HSV2. A blood test can only tell you about the presence of virus in your body. It cannot tell you if you have an active breakout.

Commonly blood is tested for the presence of anti bodies of herpes virus. Your doctor will inform you about the reliability of the blood test he/she has performed, because many varieties of blood test options are available. Antibody test results are reported within two days.

Genital Herpes - Common Facts

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

Herpes Simplex has two types- genital herpes and oral herpes or cold sores. Viruses HSV1 and HSV2 cause herpes. Both of these viruses can cause genital herpes. Genital herpes is contacted by a healthy person from an infected person. If your partner has cold sores and performs oral sex, you will contact genital herpes. Likewise if your partner has genital herpes, sexual contact will transmit herpes to you. The virus enters your body, through a cut in the skin or through mucous membrane. Our mouth, genitals and anus are covered with mucous membrane and therefore that is the easiest path for the virus to enter your body.

Once you contact genital herpes, the virus will remain in your body for your lifetime. There is no permanent cure to remove the virus from your body. Genital herpes is not a life threatening disease, but one who has genital herpes is more susceptible to contact HIV infection.

Genital herpes occurs from time to time. When it gets triggered, you will see blisters filled with fluid near your genitals or anus. After sometime these blisters crust and dry without any scar. The episodes may be accompanied by fever like symptoms. In most of the people the first episode is the most severe. In some people the symptoms are so insignificant that they may ignore them altogether. Herpes keeps getting triggered from time to time. The frequency differs from person to person. During active herpes the probability of transmitting it to another person are very high. But herpes can also be transmitted when no sores are seen.

Genital herpes has no permanent cure. Anti viral medication is prescribed during the outbreak to reduce the intensity and the time period of the outbreak. Some people are advise long term treatment with anti viral medication to prevent frequent outbreaks.

Tell Me About Herpes Simplex 2

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

Herpes Simplex 2 is shorthand for Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2, or HSV 2. There are two strains of the Herpes Simplex Virus: HSV 2, and Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1, or HSV 1. When a Herpes Simplex 2 infection presents obvious symptoms, which it usually does not, the symptoms are most likely to be an outbreak of blisters in the genital area. Because Herpes Simplex 2 typically presents symptoms in the genital area, Herpes Simplex 2 infection is often referred to as genital herpes.

It?s thought that twenty percent of adults in the U.S. have Herpes Simplex 2 infection, though some estimates put the infection rate at twenty-five percent of U.S. adults. Whatever the actual number, Herpes Simplex 2 infection is becoming increasingly common. One likely reason for the increase in Herpes Simplex 2 transmission is status ignorance: an overwhelming majority of Herpes Simplex 2 infected people -- eighty percent or more -- don?t know they?re infected. This sheds light on one of the myths of genital herpes: that it is a highly symptomatic condition, with gruesome outbreaks. The dramatic images of genital herpes outbreaks that one may come across are actually the exception, not the rule.

It used to be thought that Herpes Simplex 2 infection could only be transmitted during an obvious outbreak, but research has demonstrated that the Herpes Simplex 2 virus can be present on the body surface even when the classic symptoms of an outbreak aren?t occurring, and when the virus is present it is transmittable. This appearance of Herpes Simplex 2 virus in the absence of identifiable outbreak symptoms is referred to as viral shedding. Some herpes researchers question whether viral shedding isn?t actually just an outbreak, minus some of the more classic outbreak symptoms. In any event, the consensus is that Herpes Simplex 2 is transmittable at potentially any time, because of viral shedding.

Some would attribute the increasing rates of Herpes Simplex 2 infection to transmission during viral shedding, but this is questionable. There is considerable ignorance about how the symptoms of Herpes Simplex 2 typically present themselves, and the uninformed often associate genital herpes infection with obvious blistering outbreaks. So the slight discomfort or itch or unusual appearance in the genital area is not genital herpes but jock itch, or an ingrown hair, or shaving irritation. Additionally, people typically presume -- incorrectly -- that genital herpes symptoms always appear within a few days after infection. As stated previously, the large majority of people with Herpes Simplex 2 infection don?t recognize symptoms at all; and it?s possible for someone to recognize genital herpes literally years after they were infected with it. This ignorance about actual Herpes Simplex 2 symptoms and infection time line may be the most significant factor in increasing transmission rates, not viral shedding.

It Is Hard To Tell About Genital Herpes

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

There is often some confusion when it comes to herpes and that is easy to understand. The genital herpes is a topic that is not often discussed in the course of normal conversation. But, if you are 25 years old and over and sexually active with several partners, it is wise to be tested for genital herpes as that is a very common form of herpes. It is wise as millions of Americans are living with genital herpes because the disease can sometimes be surprisingly difficult to detect.

It is important to know and to recognize the symptoms of genital herpes. You should always seek an official diagnosis from a medical professional if you are at all concerned that you may have the disease. Many feel ashamed when they learn to know that they have genital herpes but medical experts will tell that you should not be embarrassed and the sooner you get treatment the better. When you have been diagnosed as positive, it is not necessary to identify the source and you may have had it for years already.

Doctors will tell you that it is safe to have sex with others as long as you avoid to have sex during outbreaks. You can learn to notice the warning signs of when an outbreak will be coming. It is a fact that most people infected with oral herpes are not even aware of the fact that they have the disease.

More than half of the people who have herpes show no symptoms and they are unaware that they are carriers of the disease and are capable of transferring the virus. The recurrence pattern of herpes is also as varied as the people who harbor the virus. There are estimations that 20% of the population in the USA has herpes. That is one out of five people! Now, that number is uncertain and can be a distortion of the facts.

If the signs and symptoms occur during the first outbreak, then they can be rather severe as the first attack is pretty violent. Then the virus remains dormant within the neuronal cells of the dorsal root ganglion. It will give rise to recurrent lesions but they are milder in intensity as compared to the primary attack.

This is one of the least damaging viruses and actually milder even than its relatives, the chicken-pox/shingles virus and the mono/chronic fatigue virus. The herpes simplex virus 1 is generally caught in the childhood and the genital infection from herpes simplex virus 2 is usually caused by sexual contact in the adulthood. The incubation period for genital herpes infections is up to a fortnight after exposure to the virus. Teenagers and adults who are sexually active should never have unprotected sex with a person who they even suspect may be infected by genital herpes.

Of course it can be difficult to ask someone if they are aware of having genital herpes. But how can you tell if someone has genital herpes? Pregnant women who have ever had an outbreak of genital herpes should discuss with the obstetrician before the due date. Then they can eventually plan for a non-vaginal delivery and in that way protect the baby.

Persons that are infected with genital herpes should have mercy and give others the chance to avoid the disease. One alternative is to avoid any sexual contact, which of course is very hard for most. So if you have genital herpes, you must tell your new sex partner about it and then decide about your intimate contacts.

A Herpes Cure - Is There Actually Such A Thing?

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

A Cure For Herpes - Is There One?

Herpes has been around since at least since the time of the ancient Greeks. Herpes has no cure and finding a cure for herpes is proving so hard due to the fact that it is so good at hide in the nerve endings between outbreaks. This makes is impossible for your body's immune system to find and destroy it.

Herpes manifests in an outbreak of tiny vessicles manily around the pubic region which later turn into open lesions. After an outbreak the herpes virus backtracks to the nerve endings and hides, making it impossible to treat or to find a cure.

Herpes Cure Studies

Scientists are working hard to try to find a herpes cure. However right now the only form of treatment is that which helps suppress the herpes outbreaks and topical treatments to kill the virus once an outbreak occurs.

The mere fact that herpes is a virus makes it so hard to find a herpes cure. Normally your body's immune system will deal with and destroy any viruses it finds but that fact that the herpes virus retreats and hides so well in the nerves when in the dormant phase makes finding a herpes cure a more difficult task.

Herpes Cure Medications

Although there is no herpes cure, herpes outbreaks can be suppressed with some of the anti-viral mediactions available. There is also not a vaccine that can effect a cure for the herpes virus.

There is not a herpes cure, but taking precautions do work...

Just using some good old fashioned level-headedness can go a long way to ensure you don't come into contact with this incurable virus. Always have protected sex. This is not infallible but will in most cases protect you from becoming infected.

One of the primary methods that herpes is getting spread is via oral sex. Many people (particularly the young) do not even consider oral sex to be a sexual activity but oral sex is indeed a major factor in the growing number of herpes infections. This is just plain silly because simply using some form of protection would stop that infection in almost 100% of all cases.

Refraining from having any sexual contact with another is the only sure way to avoid herpes infections.

Abstinence is not a cure for herpes but it works!

Cold Sores Caused By Herpes

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

>>  Instantly STOP The Bloody HERPES. Click Here <<

Cold sore, fever blister, herpes. The first two are generally thought to be typical conditions, benign, a part of life. The third condition has a darker reputation: a dreaded disease and one often linked to sexual behavior. In reality, all three conditions are the same. Cold sores and fever blisters are actually common terms for the symptoms caused by herpes.

To put it simply, a cold sore is herpes.

Specifically, a cold sore is Herpes Simplex Virus 1, or HSV 1 (cold sores are sometimes caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 2, the strain of the herpes virus that typically causes genital herpes, but this is rare). Cold sores, or fever blisters, occur when the herpes virus travels along nerve paths and appears at the surface of the skin. Are all instances of cold sores herpes? There are blemishes that appear on the skin that aren?t cold sores; but if the blemish is a cold sore, or a fever blister if you prefer, then it?s herpes.

Surprised? Dubious? These kinds of reactions aren?t unusual on learning that herpes causes cold sores, and that?s almost certainly due to the negative association that the word ?herpes? has for some people. Why is this? Yes, there is a variation of the herpes virus that typically causes genital outbreaks (HSV 2), but the strain of herpes that causes cold sores, HSV 1, can also be spread to the genitals; and herpes in general is an exceptionally common condition: among US adults, roughly 20% have HSV 2, and up to 90% have HSV 1.

HSV 1 is often spread by kissing, and after HSV 1 infection takes place a cold sore outbreak can appear within a week or so -- or may never appear at all. Many people with HSV 1 don?t have cold sore outbreaks, and there?s no absolute reason why some HSV 1 infected people have cold sore outbreaks and others don?t. The first HSV 1 outbreak a person has can be the most uncomfortable, with a fever and a general ill feeling sometimes accompanying the initial appearance of cold sores. Subsequent outbreaks are typically less severe, aided by the body?s production of herpes antibodies, which help fight future outbreaks more effectively. Treatment for cold sore outbreaks is available and typically shortens the duration of an outbreak, but treatment for a cold sore isn?t necessary as outbreaks will eventually clear on their own.

While cold sore outbreaks are usually not a serious condition, it is possible to spread the HSV 1 virus to the eye(s). This condition is known as ocular herpes, and unlike a general cold sore outbreak, ocular herpes requires medical attention. Ocular herpes is not common, but it does happen. Ocular herpes usually occurs from a mouth to eye contact, such as placing a contact lens into the mouth to moisturize it, and then placing the contact lens into the eye. Don?t go from your mouth or someone else?s mouth into your eye(s)! Most people likely wouldn?t do this anyway, but it?s worth reinforcing.

Herpes - The Most Significant Symptoms

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

There are many different types or variants of herpes and they all generate some type of eruption or herpes outbreak of sores or lesions.

The herpes family is dominated by two strains in the main. First is the HSV 1 strain that attacks the mouth both inside and out.

Herpes Transmission

The second strain of herpes is herpes simplex 2. This strain affects the parts of the body that are below the waist. This strain is typically spread through sexual contact and causes blisters on the genitalia or the surrounding pubic area. Below we will more specifically get into the types of lesions caused by this virus as well as the location of these sores.

The gentlest member of the herpes family is herpes simplex 1. Despite the fact that it is a gentler virus, the cold sores it is responsible for are highly contagious. There is no cure for HSV 1. Although this herpes is predominantly found around the mouth in the form of cold sores, it often causes herpes on the genitals.

The blisters or sores that sometimes appear in and around the mouth when one is getting a cold or flu are typical of HSV 1. This is called to as oral herpes.

Herpes simplex 2 is the most commonly talked about form of herpes. This strain is passed through sexual activity. The blisters that occur from this strain are similar to cold sores; The herpes virus that causes genital herpes is the virus that raises most concern. HSV 2 causes lesions and blisters on the genitalia and surrounding pubic areas including the buttocks and the anus.

With genital herpes in males, the eruptions may occur on the shaft of the penis, the genital region, or on the inner thigh, buttocks, or anus. In females, lesions may occur on or near the pubis, labia, clitoris, vulva, buttocks, or anus. This may require careful examination; during delivery a flashlight is suggested. The appearance of eruptions and the experience of outbreaks in these areas differ according to each individual.

So what do herpes sores look like? Sometimes herpes simply appears as reddening of the affected area. It is popssible that you could also feel feverish and possibly have some flu like aches and pains. A secretion from the penis or vagina may also occur.

It is usual for the first herpes outbreaks to be far more severe and they often are preceded by feelings of fever and glands that are swollen. Subsequent outbreaks are normally never as harsh as that first outbreak and can occur 6 to 8 times a year, depending on your health.

If you are suffering from stress this will almost always trigger an outbreak of herpes as will a lowered immune system. Depression can extend the length of your herpes outbreaks.

What is this Herpes Epidemic

STOP Herpes Now and From Coming Back for Good

Herpes is a virus that is sweeping the world that few know anything about. It is caused by the herpes simplex virus.

There are many varying strains of this virus; however there are two that are the most common. Herpes simplex type 1 affects the parts of the body that are above the waist, although occasionally it will affect the genitalia. After infection lesions occur on the lips in the form of cold sores or fever blisters.

The second strain of herpes is herpes simplex type 2. This strain affects the parts of the body that are below the belt. When an outbreak of this strain occurs, lesions appear on or around the genitalia. All strains of herpes are extremely contagious as well as incurable. However not all cases of herpes cause outbreaks. In fact, five to twenty percent of infected people receive the disease through a partner that is asymptomatic.

Herpes derives its name from Greek philosophers, including Hippocrates. The meaning of herpes means to creep or to crawl. This is a perfect description of this dormant lying disease.

Once infected by a particular strain, there is an initial outbreak. This is the most painful of any of the episodes a person is to encounter. It generally takes two to twelve days to show signs after an infection. Once this occurs, it could take up to three weeks for the lesions to go away. Under the initial infection a person may experience flu-like symptoms, fatigue, and irritability, on top of the lesions.

Lesions are typically red fluid like blisters, which open easily. Thus the blisters soon turn to open sores. These sores then crust over, the scab falls off and new skin grows underneath. With these lesions there is no scarring. The similar cold sores that are present on the lips are pretty much the same sores that are present on the genitalia.

Herpes is a virus that is incurable, therefore it is also dangerous. The disease does like dormant a majority of the time, most people only have outbreaks five times a year. This is a disease that affects people as young as twelve, and as old as forty-five.

Hopefully research will provide us with some new answers and a cure to this epidemic. However, until that is reached one must remember that the only way to avoid contriving herpes is to practice abstinence, or safe sex. However, even kissing can pass herpes.

So one should remain safe, and always be aware of your condition, as well as your partners.
